It's fishing time...Dude!

I made this card to satisfy two challenges today. The Cute Card Thursday challenge for this week was the theme "Schoold out for the summer!" and then I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers. I wanted to use one of my Stamp Shoppe Creations stamps, so I settled on the Dude. Now the next question was how to make him look like school is out?? I found my Northwoods cube that had a fishing pole and fish on it. The only problem was that the pole wasn't long enough, so I added an extra link to the pole and drew in the bobber and hook. Then I took the fish and stamped them two times. I got all the elements in the right spot by using my Stamp-a-majig. I then colored this guy with Copic Markers. I stamped the Endless Creations "Take it easy..." stamp and cut out with the large scallop oval nestabities. I wanted to use something different for the strips, so I used some red twill ribbon and then a strip of blue cardstock that I put through the Tim Holtz's Dot Matrix Texture fade folder. I will have to see what other accessories this dude should have!!

One of the hardest cards to make are for men. Northwoods Rubber stamps have a great selection of masculine stamps. The moose was colored with Copic Markers. The papers in the background are some scraps from my scrap bin again. The multi-colored fibers add a different touch than your regular ribbon...less girlish. I used the Nestabilities to cut out the sentiment. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. Because of the blank space in the circle, I added some gems that are also from Hero Arts. Hope this gets you inspired to make a card for the men in your life. Happy Stamping!

Masculine Deer Card

Why is it that masculine cards are so hard to do? I think it is because we have to be so careful not to make it girly. The ribbons, buttons, lace punches, glitters and flowers are the fun accessories to use...but they don't always work for a man's card. I came up with a new accent by accident. I used bronze brads on my card and then decided to cut out my word window with the nestibilities label. As I rolled my card front through the cuttlebug, my eyelets flattened out making the heads look like nailheads. Cool!! Now I created a different look with my brads, but the card shouldn't have any problem going through the mail either! Hope this gives you a new thing to try! Happy stamping!!

Graduation Money Holder

This weeks make-n-take is a Money holder card for the Graduate. Using the Scor-pal you can make this quickly. Cut a piece of cardstock 6 1/4 X 9. Place the card on the Scor-pal and score at 3 1/2" and 7". Fold it and you have a money card. I use a curved template to make one corner of the money pocket rounded. Use thin tape along the right edge of the pocket to close one end. Now you can decorate the front however you want!! I use the *New* Memento pads for my background and graduation hat. I love these dye pads. The color is so vivid and works great on solid images! Have fun making this card or come in a make one at the store. We'd love to see you!
