Poinsettias are very popular this year and it seems it is the item that we have the most trouble keeping in-stock.  As I was looking at the lilies stamp, I thought that if I would just color it red...it would look like a poinsettia!  I used the Malabar Clematis stamp and colored them with Copic Markers R46 and R59.  Then I cut out the lilies with the matching die.  Using different sizes and I layered them together and created the poinsettia.  I love to find different ways of using the same stamps to create different flowers and different looks.  I used the Yuletide Sentiments to create a focal point and added the poinsettias for accents.  Use some of the beautiful decorator paper from the Frosty Blanket Paper Collection to complete the look.  The Design Team has been busy creating beautiful projects, so be sure to check out the HC blog today!

A Winter's Peace

I am using the Prickley Pear's new Bare Branch tree on this card. First of all, I ripped a piece of cardstock to be double the width of my card.  Then I layed it over the 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock.  I stamped the tree once, then with out re-inking the stamp, I stamped the tree again.  I repeated this to have a row of trees that had the effect of distance.  The trees were stamped while the ripped paper is on the cardstock, so that it masks the bottom of the trees.  Then I sponged with the weathered wood Distress ink over the ripped edge.  I move the ripped paper mask down and over about 1" and repeated the sponging with the Distress Ink until I reached the bottom of the card.  Then I sponge the sky with the Stormy Sky Distress Ink.  I stamped the small cardinal from the CLR027B Winter Scallop Oval Stamp Set in one of the trees and colored it with Copic Marker R46.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the CLR019A Victorian Ornament 2 Clear Set onto a strip of white cardstock and matted it with navy cardstock.  Add some glitter to the trees and the layered snow and some silver pearls to the sentiment strip.  Be sure to check out the PPRS blog for more inspiration from the Design Team!

Victorian Ornaments

This Thursday, PPRS is showcasing Ornaments on their blog.  On this card, I used the Victorian Ornaments 2 CLR019A.  If you have been following my Prickley Pear Cards, you will notice that I often use many of the sentiments on this set.  There are several varieties of ornaments and they are easy to color with the Copic Markers.  First you use the Victorian Ornament die to cut out the ornaments, then because the stamps are clear, it is easy to see where to stamp on the cut out!!  I cut out the lattice background with the Cheery Lynn Designs lattice die and the Holly is also cut out with a die made by Cheery Lynn.  Many of these dies, you can find at The Stamp Shoppe.  Then I added some lilac pearls to the swirls and the sentiment!  Hop on over to the PPRS blog to see what else was created using ornaments!!

Lamp of Christmas Cheer

This new holiday stamp from Prickley Pear is a must have for your holiday cards.  Stamped on white paper, then colored with Copic Markers.  The border doily is from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I cut it apart to add some accents to the card.  The sentiment is from the Victorian Ornament 2 Set CLR019A.  Then for the snow on the lamp, I used some glitter with the Quickie Glue Pen.  It still needed just a little bit more!  Maybe....some pearls!  These Viva Decor Pearl Pens add just the perfect touch for so many cards.  Don't forget...it's Monday and there is more inspiration on the PPRS blog!

Embossing Backgrounds

Here is a sample of one of the cards that will be done in the Background Techniques class at The Stamp Shoppe.  To see a schedule of our classes, you can go to our website.  The sentiment for this card is from My Sentiments Exactly!  The 3-D flowers were made with the Heartfelt Creations Tattered Blossoms stamp set and cut out with their matching die.  The flowers were colored with Copic Markers R46 and R59.  The swirl die that was used here, was from Magnolia.  Come in to see more Background Technique cards!!  Have a wonderful weekend!
